Zen is a Rochdale-based independent provider with a long record of good customer service. It costs more than the big names each month, but it does three things most of them don’t: it fixes your price for the whole contract, it includes a static IP address on full fibre, and it promises to fix slow speeds within 30 days or let you leave.
Our simple pick: Zen Full Fibre 500 on CityFibre’s network, where Zen’s prices are lowest and the upload speed is far higher than on Openreach lines. If you are on the Openreach network, compare Zen’s price at your address with Plusnet before deciding.

Who Zen suits
- Anyone who wants to know exactly what they will pay for the whole contract.
- Home workers and people who run home servers, cameras or remote access, who benefit from the included static IP address.
- People who want UK-based support from a provider with a strong reputation.
Who should look elsewhere
- Budget buyers. Zen usually costs more each month than Plusnet, Vodafone or EE at the same speed, even after their rises.
- Anyone who wants TV. Zen doesn’t offer TV bundles.
Networks
Zen offers full fibre over Openreach, CityFibre and several smaller networks, including Trooli, Freedom Fibre and MS3 in their areas. On CityFibre and some altnet lines, upload speeds are much higher than on Openreach.
Contract Price Promise
Zen’s Contract Price Promise means your monthly price doesn’t rise during the minimum term. That makes Zen easier to compare over a full contract than most providers, so set its total cost against a rival’s total including both yearly rises.
Router and Wi-Fi
Zen offers a FRITZ!Box router with its broadband. Its EveryRoom service adds mesh Wi-Fi for larger homes, and Amazon eero kits are also available.
