Vodafone broadband: who it suits

Vodafone is one of the cheapest ways to get full fibre from a household name. Its full fibre packages run over the Openreach network, CityFibre’s network and, in parts of London, Community Fibre’s network. The network matters, because on CityFibre and Community Fibre lines your upload speed is the same as your download speed.

Our simple pick: Vodafone Full Fibre 150. It is cheap, comes with a generous voucher and has plenty of speed for most homes. If you are on CityFibre’s network, Full Fibre 500 or 910 is worth the small step up for the upload speed alone.

Who Vodafone suits

  • Price-conscious homes that want full fibre with a large voucher.
  • Gamers, streamers and home workers on CityFibre’s network, who benefit from the faster upload.
  • Vodafone mobile customers, who can get a monthly discount on broadband.
  • Renters and people without a fixed line, through 5G home broadband.

Who should look elsewhere

  • Anyone who wants easy customer service above all. Vodafone has been among the more complained-about broadband providers in recent Ofcom complaint reports.
  • Homes that want a large TV choice. Vodafone’s TV bundles are limited compared with Sky or Virgin Media.

Price rises

Vodafone adds a fixed amount each year on 1 April for contracts taken out now, shown in pounds and pence at the point of sale. Customers who stay on after their contract ends move to a different rise linked to inflation, so it pays to switch or renegotiate on time.

Router and Pro 3

Vodafone offers its Wi-Fi 6 Power Hub on standard full fibre packages. Pro 3 packages cost more and add the Ultra Hub 7, a Wi-Fi coverage guarantee and a 4G back-up connection that keeps you online if the fixed line drops, as long as you have a decent 4G signal.

Social tariff

Vodafone Fibre 2 Essentials accepts a wider range of benefits than most social tariffs, including Personal Independence Payment. See our social tariff guide.

FAQs

Does Vodafone use the Openreach network?

Yes, for its part-fibre packages and much of its full fibre. It also uses CityFibre’s network and, in London, Community Fibre’s network.

Is Vodafone broadband good?

On price and speed, yes. Its service record is weaker than average, so weigh the savings against how much you value easy support.

Does Vodafone pay exit fees from my old provider?

Vodafone has offered switcher credit towards early termination charges on some deals. Check the current offer on Vodafone’s order page.

Can I get Vodafone broadband without a contract?

Vodafone’s fixed-line broadband is on 24-month contracts. Its 5G home broadband is available on shorter terms.
