Vodafone Home Phone is available with its broadband plans at no extra monthly charge. The service uses Digital Voice, allowing you to make calls through your broadband connection using a compatible home telephone.
You can normally keep your existing phone number when switching to Vodafone. There is no separate line rental, and you can choose between pay-as-you-go calls and inclusive calling plans for UK and international numbers.
Vodafone Home Phone call plans
Vodafone offers three calling extras for customers who use their home phone regularly. You can also make calls at standard rates without adding a monthly calling plan.
| Call plan | What’s included |
|---|---|
| Pay as you go (No extra monthly charge) | UK landlines at 11.5p/min and mobiles at 13p/min, plus a 19p connection charge per call. |
| Evening & Weekend Calls (£6/month) | Unlimited calls to standard UK landlines from 7pm to 7am on weekdays and throughout weekends. |
| Anytime Landline & Mobile Calls (£10/month) | Unlimited calls to standard UK landlines and mobiles at any time. |
| International 300 (£7/month) | 300 minutes monthly to selected international destinations, including India, Australia, the USA and European countries. |
Inclusive UK calls have a 60-minute limit per call. You can hang up and redial before the limit to avoid additional charges. International 300 covers landlines in selected countries and mobiles in certain destinations.
You can manage calling extras through My Vodafone. Each extra has a minimum 30-day term, and charges increase annually based on January’s CPI plus 3.9%.
Vodafone Digital Voice features
Caller Display and call privacy
Vodafone offers free Caller Display on request, allowing compatible telephones to show incoming numbers.
You can dial 1471 to check the last number that called you or use 141 before dialling to withhold your number for an individual call.
However, Vodafone Digital Voice on fibre broadband does not support network voicemail, Call Divert or Call Waiting. A telephone with a built-in answering machine can record messages instead.
Using your existing telephone and number
Digital Voice works with most compatible corded and cordless telephones. Connect your telephone, or the main cordless base station, to the phone socket on your Vodafone broadband router.
You can request to transfer your current home phone number when ordering Vodafone broadband. The transfer is subject to availability, so arrange it before cancelling your existing service.
Vodafone’s Power Hub and Ultra Hub 7 both support home phone connections. Our Vodafone routers guide covers their specifications and connections.
Emergency calls and battery backup
Vodafone Digital Voice requires electricity and a working broadband connection. During a power cut, your home phone normally stops working, including for emergency calls.
Vodafone provides a free Broadband Battery Backup for customers registered as dependent on their home phone. It can power compatible equipment for approximately four to seven hours, provided the broadband network remains operational.
If you use a personal care alarm, monitored security system or older telephone extensions, check compatibility with Vodafone before switching.
Vodafone Home Phone FAQs
How do I add or change a Vodafone calling plan?
You can add or change calling extras through the My Vodafone app, your online account or by contacting Vodafone customer support. Calling extras have a minimum 30-day term.
Do unused International 300 minutes carry over?
No. Unused minutes expire at the end of each billing period. The allowance covers landlines in selected countries and mobiles in certain destinations. Calls exceeding 300 minutes are charged at standard international rates.
Why is my Vodafone home phone not working?
First, check that your telephone is connected to the green TEL port on the Vodafone router. Make sure your broadband connection is working and the telephone has power. If the problem continues, contact Vodafone support.
Will I need an engineer when switching to Digital Voice?
Usually not. Vodafone normally switches existing customers automatically, often overnight. It will provide any necessary adapter or replacement router and tell you when to connect your telephone.
