Vodafone 5G Home Broadband uses Vodafone’s mobile network to provide home internet without a fixed broadband line. It offers download speeds of up to 50Mbps or 150Mbps, unlimited data and a Wi-Fi 6 router, depending on the coverage available at your address.
It is an alternative for homes without access to full fibre, as well as renters and students who prefer shorter contracts. You can choose a 30-day rolling, 12-month or 24-month plan, with no engineer visit required for installation.

Vodafone 5G Broadband speeds
Vodafone offers two maximum download speeds: 50Mbps and 150Mbps. These are speed limits rather than guaranteed average speeds.
The 50Mbps option can handle everyday browsing, video calls and HD streaming. The 150Mbps option provides more bandwidth for 4K streaming, larger downloads and several people using the internet together.
However, performance depends on your 5G signal, the location of your home and demand on the local mobile network. Speeds and latency can fluctuate, particularly during busy periods.
For competitive online gaming, frequent large uploads or households needing consistent performance, a fixed full fibre connection may be preferable. Compare the available options in our Vodafone Full Fibre 150 guide.
Vodafone 5G Hub and Outdoor Hub
Vodafone supplies one of two setups based on the mobile signal at your address.
5G Hub: This is an indoor Wi-Fi 6 router with a Vodafone SIM card. Place it where the mobile signal is strongest, usually near a window, and connect it to a power socket. It provides internet access to your wireless devices without additional wiring.
Outdoor Hub: If Vodafone detects a better signal outside your property, it may supply an Outdoor Hub with a separate Power Hub router for indoor Wi-Fi. Depending on your home, the receiving unit can be placed near a window or mounted outdoors.
Both options are self-installed. The Power Hub’s wireless features are covered in our Vodafone router guide.
Vodafone 5G Broadband vs full fibre
| Feature | Vodafone 5G Broadband | Vodafone Full Fibre |
|---|---|---|
| Connection | 5G mobile network | Fibre-optic cable |
| Download speeds | Up to 150Mbps | Up to 2.2Gbps |
| Installation | Self-installation | Engineer may be required |
| Contract options | 30 days, 12 or 24 months | Usually 24 months |
| Performance | Varies with mobile signal and congestion | Generally more consistent |
| Home phone | Not available | Optional Digital Voice |
Vodafone 5G Broadband can be useful where full fibre is unavailable or a long contract is unsuitable. However, it is designed for use at your approved home address, not as a portable mobile broadband service.
If you move home, Vodafone must check availability at your new address before transferring the service.
Vodafone 5G Broadband FAQs
Does Vodafone 5G Broadband work on 4G?
Yes. The router can connect to Vodafone’s 4G network when 5G is unavailable. Speeds may be lower, depending on local coverage and network conditions.
Is Vodafone GigaCube still available?
No. Vodafone has stopped selling GigaCube to new customers. Its newer 5G Home Broadband service replaces it, although existing GigaCube customers can still access Vodafone support.
Can I use a different SIM card in the Vodafone 5G Hub?
Vodafone’s 5G Broadband equipment is intended to work with the supplied SIM card. Its service terms do not permit replacing it with another provider’s SIM.
Do I have to return the router when leaving Vodafone?
Vodafone owns the indoor 5G Hub and the receiving unit used with the Outdoor Hub. These must be returned when the service ends to avoid possible non-return charges. Different ownership rules apply to the Power Hub supplied with an Outdoor Hub.
