Community Fibre: who it suits

If you live in London and Community Fibre reaches your building, it is one of the best-value broadband services in the country. It runs its own full fibre network, and on every package the upload speed is the same as the download speed.

The network covers 1.4 million homes, mostly in London with some parts of the South East, according to Community Fibre. Outside that footprint you can’t get it.

Our simple pick: Community Fibre 500Mbps on a 24-month contract. It currently costs only slightly more than the 150Mbps package and gives a busy home plenty of bandwidth for years.

Who Community Fibre suits

  • London households that want fast full fibre for less than most national providers charge.
  • Home workers, gamers and content creators, thanks to the symmetrical speeds.
  • People who want a 12-month option without moving to a rolling contract.

Who should look elsewhere

  • Anyone outside its network, which is almost entirely London.
  • Homes that want a large choice of TV channels. Community Fibre’s TV add-on is a streaming service rather than a Sky-style package.

Price rises

Community Fibre adds a fixed amount each year on 1 April, and a further increase when your contract ends, both set out when you order. The table shows the exact prices during the contract.

Router and Wi-Fi

Community Fibre offers a Linksys mesh Wi-Fi router, so you can add extra units if your Wi-Fi doesn’t reach every room. Its gigabit and faster Premium packages come with a Wi-Fi 7 router.

Calls and TV

A home phone with unlimited UK calls and a TV service with live channels and on-demand apps are available as add-ons. Your phone service won’t work in a power cut, so keep a mobile handy for emergencies.

Social tariff

Community Fibre’s Essential package is one of the cheapest social tariffs available. See our social tariff guide.

FAQs

Is Community Fibre only in London?

Almost entirely. Its network also reaches some parts of the South East, but most homes it serves are in London.

Does Community Fibre have symmetrical speeds?

Yes. On every package, the upload speed is the same as the download speed.

Does Community Fibre raise prices mid-contract?

Yes. It adds a fixed amount each April, set out in pounds and pence when you order.

Can I switch to Community Fibre without losing service?

Usually, yes. Because it runs its own network, your old service normally stays live until Community Fibre is installed.
