Stay Fast Guarantee

BT’s Stay Fast Guarantee for Full Fibre 900 is 700Mbps to your Smart Hub 3. You can check this using the My BT app. If your speed falls below the guarantee and BT cannot fix the problem within 30 days, you can leave your contract without paying early cancellation charges.

Router

BT supplies the Smart Hub 3 with Full Fibre 900. It has Wi-Fi 6 and four Gigabit Ethernet ports for wired devices. However, getting the full 900Mbps over Wi-Fi is not always possible, especially in rooms farther from the router. Complete Wi-Fi Plus is available if you need to extend Wi-Fi coverage to other parts of your home.

Digital Voice

You don’t have to take a home phone with Full Fibre 900. If you need one, BT’s Digital Voice service lets you make calls using your internet connection. You can keep a compatible telephone and usually retain your existing number. Remember that your broadband and router must be working to make calls.

BT TV

Full Fibre 900 has far more speed than you need for watching 4K TV. Even if your family watches programmes on several screens, there is plenty of bandwidth left for downloading files and other internet activities. You can choose a BT TV package with the TV Box Pro for recording programmes or the TV Box Edge if you don’t need recording.

BT Full Fibre 900 for gaming

BT Full Fibre 900 is ideal for serious online gaming. Ofcom recorded average latency of just 8ms in its tests, making it excellent for fast-paced multiplayer games.

The 900Mbps download speed can download a 100GB game in about 15 minutes under ideal conditions. Several people can play online simultaneously, while the 110Mbps upload speed is great for live game streaming. Actual gaming ping and download times depend on the server and network conditions.

Alternatives to consider

  • BT Full Fibre 500 is enough for most busy households. Unless you frequently download large games or transfer big files, the extra speed of Full Fibre 900 may not be necessary.
  • Plusnet Full Fibre 900 uses the Openreach network and offers the same average download speed. Compare the router, included extras and contract costs.
  • Vodafone Full Fibre 910 is another option for gigabit broadband. On selected networks, it offers much faster uploads than BT, making it worth considering for large cloud backups and video uploads.
