BT Broadband and TV

BT TV combines live television, streaming services and premium sports channels with BT broadband. It offers five TV packages covering entertainment, films and sport, including Netflix, HBO Max, Sky channels through NOW and TNT Sports.

The service comes with a TV box for watching live channels, catch-up programmes and streaming apps. Depending on your package, you can also record programmes and watch them later.

BT TV was previously branded EE TV for BT broadband customers. It returned to the BT TV name on 15 October 2026.

What is included?

BT TV is available with selected BT broadband plans, including part-fibre and full fibre connections. You can order broadband and TV together or add television to an existing BT broadband account.

You receive either a TV Box Edge or TV Box Pro, depending on your package. Both connect to your BT broadband router through Wi-Fi or Ethernet, so a television aerial is not required for internet TV channels.

Even BT Full Fibre 150 provides enough bandwidth for everyday television streaming alongside other internet activities. TNT Sports Ultimate in 4K requires a broadband speed above 40Mbps.

BT TV channels

BT TV includes popular free-to-air channels such as BBC One, ITV1, Channel 4 and Channel 5, together with premium channels determined by your subscription.

NOW Entertainment provides channels including Sky Atlantic, Sky One, Sky Max and Sky Comedy. Sky Sports is available through NOW Sports, while TNT Sports provides football, rugby, motorsport and other live events across its four main channels.

NOW Cinema and additional streaming subscriptions can be added separately. The selection of free-to-air channels is smaller when watching through broadband than when using the TV Box Pro with an aerial.

BT TV features

TV Box Pro and TV Box Edge

BT provides two main TV boxes:

  • TV Box Pro: Supports 4K HDR, Dolby Atmos and recording. Its 1TB hard drive can store up to 600 hours of television. It can record two channels simultaneously in internet mode or four in aerial mode.
  • TV Box Edge: A smaller streaming box supplied with Entertainment. It supports live TV, catch-up services and streaming apps but cannot record programmes.

Both boxes support Wi-Fi and Ethernet connections, programme search and popular streaming apps.

Flexible TV packages

You can switch between BT’s flexible TV packages every 30 days, except during the final three months of the minimum contract. This allows you to change the entertainment or sports content you receive without replacing your TV box.

BT also offers optional NOW passes and other channel extras. Their charges depend on the subscription selected.

Catch-up TV and streaming

BT TV provides access to BBC iPlayer, ITVX, Netflix, NOW, HBO Max, Prime Video and other supported apps.

You can search for programmes across supported services, restart available shows and use catch-up players. A separate subscription is required for apps and channels not included in your package.

BT TV and broadband compared with rivals

ProviderMain differences
SkySky Stream offers Sky channels and Netflix without requiring Sky broadband. It uses playlists and catch-up rather than local programme recording.
Virgin MediaVirgin TV 360 supports recording, while Virgin Media Flex offers streaming channels and optional subscriptions on shorter TV terms.
Vodafone TVVodafone focuses on streaming, Freely channels, Netflix, HBO Max and cloud gaming. It does not offer the same combination of Sky Sports and TNT Sports packages as BT TV.

BT TV’s main distinction is its combination of streaming subscriptions, Sky channels through NOW, TNT Sports and a recordable TV box on selected packages. However, customers must also consider the broadband requirement, TV contract and annual price increases.
